WEST Adelaide defender Joel Tippett has been ordered to attend today's AFL combine at Wayville despite being restricted by injury.
Tippett, younger brother of wantaway Crows star Kurt, fractured his back playing against Norwood in the SANFL second semi-final and will be examined medically at the state-based screening session from 9am today.
If the 23-year-old doesn't front, he risks not being eligible for the AFL draft in November.
"It's an expectation that the player attends," AFL talent manager Kevin Sheahan said.
"We will always advise any guy who has an injury that it's just as important to come along and say where you are up to.
"Our doctors are there and we will share that information with all clubs.
"We're going to full-time jobs now, it's not like it was 20 years ago. There's a very big investment in every player chosen so they (clubs) want to have a good handle on any injury a player is carrying so there is no surprise when the national draft, and rookie draft, comes about."
Central District young gun Troy Menzel may also make an appearance despite injuring his knee in the SANFL finals series.
Tippett, named at full back in The Advertiser Team of the Year, has impressed in his first season with the Bloods.
"There's been some interest in Joel for sure," Sheahan said.
"Any of the tall positions, there's always interest if they can play, particularly deep in defence. And we know those guys can develop when they get older too, they mature a little bit later."
While Tippett and Menzel will sit idle, more than 20 South Australians - and two from the Northern Territory - will be put through their paces in front of AFL scouts.
After having their height, weight, hand span and arm length measured, players will undergo speed, agility and endurance tests.
Unlike the national AFL Combine which was held in Melbourne last week, today's screening will not include skill-based exercises involving footballs.
"We trialled it last year but there was too much jammed in there," Sheahan explained.
"We're happy we've made those (skill-based) judgments while watching them play during the year, so we'd rather concentrate on the physical side of it."
North Adelaide ruckman Daniel Currie won't be present as he tested at the event in Melbourne.
Central defender Sam Colquhoun will get his chance to shine after missing the AFL Combine in Melbourne to prepare for the SANFL reserves grand final.
